Marina di Olbia: A Gateway to Costa Smeralda

Marina di Olbia Yachting Services, which includes the sophisticated Marina di Olbia, the exclusive Marinella Mooring, and will integrate Molo Brin in 2027, stands as a premier gateway to Costa Smeralda. By joining the SEA Index® community, the group is strengthening its environmental accountability, reinforcing Sardinia’s role as a leader in more sustainable yachting.

Advancing Sustainability in the Yachting Sector

This partnership demonstrates how leading Mediterranean destinations can drive the environmental transition of the yachting industry. Sardinia, renowned for its pristine waters and marine biodiversity, offers an ideal setting to champion the SEA Index® principles.

Benchmarking and Incentives for Cleaner Yachting

As an institutional member, Marina di Olbia Yachting Services will actively promote the SEA Index® CO₂ benchmarking tool, a not-for-profit system that enables yacht owners, captains, and charterers to measure and understand their vessel’s carbon footprint.

Together, SEA Index® and Marina di Olbia Yachting Services will implement an incentive program to attract yachts with the lowest CO₂ emissions, rewarding environmental performance and setting a new standard for Sardinian marinas.

Leadership Statements

Bernard d’Alessandri, President of SEA Index® and Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco, said:
“The inclusion of Marina di Olbia Yachting Services marks a significant moment for the SEA Index® in Italy. This undertaking in Sardinia strengthens our unified Mediterranean front. We are seeing that the economic advantages of attracting a more conscious clientele are aligning with the imperative to protect our seas. We are delighted to welcome a partner that recognizes the long-term value of verifiable sustainability.”

Gian Pietro Sirca, CEO of Marina di Olbia Yachting Services, stated:

“Joining the Superyacht Eco Association is a natural progression of our dedication to preserving the exceptional marine environment of Sardinia. The SEA Index® provides the essential, verifiable metric needed to guide our community toward a more responsible future. By rewarding certified yachts, we are not simply adhering to standards, we are leading by example and empowering our clients to make informed, sustainable choices.”

Global Expansion and Shared Objectives

This announcement follows recent collaborations with prestigious destinations from Corsica to the Seychelles, and most recently Port Gustavia – St Barthélemy in the Caribbean, reinforcing the SEA Index®’s role as the global benchmark for sustainable yachting. The growing network of committed ports and marinas is encouraging a culture of transparency and shared environmental objectives essential for the future health of our oceans.
