Join SEA Index® at WE ARE THE OCEAN 2025 United Nations Oceans Conference

MONACO, May 30th 2025

We are delighted to confirm SEA Index® will be hosting dedicated events at the WE ARE THE OCEAN Green Zone, in conjunction with the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) – and you’re invited!

Running from 2- 13 June 2025 at Palais des Expositions (‘The Whale’) in Nice, France, the WE ARE THE OCEAN Green Zone will feature 15 themed pavilions, immersive atolls and a wide range of workshops and conferences designed to enable attendees to ‘discover the Ocean in a whole new way.’

In line with its mission to advance transparency and sustainability within the yachting sector, SEA Index will host two dedicated conferences under the theme, ‘Measure – Improve – Lead’ and titled: ‘Transforming Yachting with Measurable Sustainability‘ will take place at:

LA GRANDE BLEUE – Pavilion Southern for the Mediterranean, The Whale, Green Zone
Friday, 6 June 16:00 – 17:00 and Friday, 13 June 11:00 – 12:00

These sessions will explore SEA Index’s role in measuring greenhouse gas emissions from superyachts and promoting meaningful change throughout the yachting sector, beyond optics and peripheral philanthropy.

SEA Index will also contribute as a guest panellist in a high-level panel discussion organised by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Belgian Ministry of Mobility and Transport, IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) and Bureau Veritas.

The discussion, titled ‘The Issue of Underwater Radiated Noise from Shipping’, will take place at
PROTECT, EXPLORE AND DECARBONISE – IMO – CMA CGM – GICAN Pavilion, The Whale, Green Zone
Tuesday, 10 June 14:00 – 16:00

This panel will address the ecological impact of noise pollution from ships and explore practical solutions, with SEA Index sharing insights from the superyacht sector’s evolving approach to environmental acoustics responsibility.

“We are delighted to take part in WE ARE THE OCEAN, in conjunction with the 2025 United Nations Oceans Conference. The event wholly aligns with SEA Index’s mission to ‘protect the oceans for future generations’ and we are pleased to be able to share insights into how we’re empowering the superyacht and yachting communities to embrace meaningful, verifiable change with independent and unbiased environmental tools and indices.”
– Natalie Quévert, General Secretary, SEA Index

The exhibition centre, also known as ‘La Baleine’ (The Whale) is open to everyone (subject to registration) and will welcome the global ocean community, government delegations, NGOs, UN agencies and the general public.
Bringing together all stakeholders to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 – ‘Conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development’ – UNOC3 will play a pivotal role in accelerating the sustainable transition. Culminating with the adoption of the ‘Nice Ocean Action Plan’, the event will deliver long-lasting results including an actionable, inter-governmental declaration to enhance ocean conservation and related sustainable initiatives.
