SEA Index® Lifecycle Emissions Calculator

Calculate operational emissions with RINA and SEA Index®

Designed to provide an accurate source of operational emissions data, our new Lifecycle Emissions Performance calculator complements our CO2 certification program. While our CO2 certification assesses a yacht’s design-based energy intensity, our lifecycle emissions calculator analysis a yacht’s operational emissions.

Developed in conjunction with RINA, the Lifecycle Emissions Performance methodology is a new operational efficiency assessment method that evaluates the direct emissions of yachts over 25m and 400 Gross Tons based on choice of fuel and enables yacht owners to establish fuel choice strategies by comparing the CO2 reductions available via varying fuel concentrations.

Measure Fuel Emissions Across the Full Life Cycle

The Lifecycle Emissions Calculator uses a well-to-wake approach, assessing the full life cycle of fuel from production to combustion. It accurately calculates emissions intensity for both conventional fuels and blends with biofuels like HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil).

Aligned with international standards and the GHG strategies of the IMO and EU, the tool supports more informed decision-making and helps you implement effective strategies to reduce your environmental impact.
